Epoxy Dispensing Valve

This dispensing valve is used to dispense epoxy for the purpose of encapsulating bare I.C. chips reflowed onto P.C.B's. The valve uses a peristaltic mechanism to deliver dots or a continuous bead of epoxy. The pump is easy to clean because the epoxy is contained within a disposable syringe, feed tube and needle. I designed this because available valves pulsed the deposition of epoxy and they were difficult to clean because the epoxy traveled thru the mechanism.

 


Die Clamp for Bare I.C. Burn-In

This clamp in conjunction with a robotic arm picks up a bare die and clamps it to a mother board for burn-in

 


In-Line P.C.B. Surface Contamination Test System

The test system consists of a conveyor, a Cartesian robot, and a modified electrophoresis machine.The robot deposits a drop of D.I water on the P.C.B. and then draws the water into a quill. the robot deposits the water into the test chamber of the electrophoresis machine which then performs the contamination test.

 

R&D P.C.B. Manufacturing System

This is an R&D prototype manufacturing line. It was used to research and evaluate robotic work cells, reflow ovens, conveyor systems, and management software. The line consisted of state of the art robotic pick and place systems, exotic gas reflow ovens, and P.C.B. wash systems. I was tasked with the layout and installation which included working with installers, electricians, and plumbers for the installation of a D.I water system.

 

  I worked with a graduate student, from M.I.T., on his thesis project. The project pertained to flexible manufacturing. The video shows an A.G.V. concept vehicle for the project. I designed the drive system.
  This computer animation was for a corporate presentation.
  I produced a corporate quarterly video news magazine. I designed and animated a virtual news studio. The commentators are composited against the news room graphic.
