Metered Valve Body Seal Test System
I
conducted the research and development, design, and machining of
all aluminum and polycarbonate components. This test system measures
the force required to pierce the seal within the valve body which
determines the seal quality. The test system utilizes a Chatillon
force gauge, a servo drive system, a PLC with serial port communication,
an indexing solenoid, and a rotary solenoid for the part diverter.

The magazine holds 40 parts which is the mold shot quantity. At
the beginning of a production shift a shot is inspected.

view shows the servo motor. The servo motor is electrically shielded
and contains the servo drive electronics. A external servo drive
is not required and this motor can be directly controlled by a PLC.
The
Chatillon force gauge is mounted on a carriage the utilizes linear
bearings and linear motion shafts.
